ABOUT THE CONFERENCE

Back by popular demand, Yellow Ladybugs presents The ADHD and Autistic Minds conference, featuring autistic girls, women, gender diverse individuals and allies.

Presenters will share stories, insights and information regarding how to best support neurodivergent students.

Topics will cover understanding the brain, executive functioning and how best to support a positive self-image for neurodivergent young people.

This is an autistic-led conference – with the majority of the speakers being neurodivergent/autistic.

WHAT TO EXPECT

This dynamic three-day conference will feature a hybrid mix of live-streamed and pre-recorded presentations you can watch in the comfort of your own home (with an option to also attend day 3 in Melbourne).
What to expect:

  • 13 robust panel discussions featuring a diverse range of neurodivergent individuals and professionals.
  • Over 12 individual presentations which will captivate, challenge and inspire
  • All day live discussions and take-home resources.
  • Information from our supporters and partners.
  • An option to attend Day 3 in person in Melbourne (Moonee Valley Racecourse)

Once you have purchased your ticket you will use your email address to gain access to the conference from your computer, phone or tablet. We recommend you use the following browsers: Google Chrome, Mozilla Firefox, Safari, and Microsoft Edge. We will send out more detailed easy to following information via email to all ticket holders prior to the conference commencing.
You will enter a virtual foyer (just like entering a real conference) and you will be guided to begin watching the scheduled sessions. You will have an opportunity to explore the virtual conference, chill out space, and even enter our chat session to connect and interact with other attendees. Each session will be supervised by a Yellow Ladybugs team member.

For those who purchase the Face to Face/Online Combo ticket, you will be sent further details by email regarding the venue and logistics for attending Day 3 in person in Melbourne.

On demand video content will be available for viewing for 60 days after the Conference.

Last year, Jessie shared her moving written piece “The Story of the Lost Girl” which saw Jessie (who at age 34 had recently learned she was autistic) meet with her four-year-old self to learn about her identity. When we know better, we can do better: My journey to becoming an ND affirming parent and clinician.

Over the last 20 years, I have seen huge developments in the fields of parenting and psychology that have changed the way I approach supporting Neurodivergent children at home, at school and in therapy. While these changes represent a positive shift in thinking and practice, they have also presented a challenge for me as I reflect on my past practice and parenting, and the mistakes I have made along the way. I hope that sharing my journey will help attendees remember that it is okay to make mistakes and change our thinking and approaches once we know better.
